Position Overview
The Curriculum Developer is responsible for providing consultative and training services to faculty and management in the design, development and delivery of curriculum. The incumbent will work with and advise Deans, Chairs and faculty on the application of evidenced-based principles to design, development, evaluation and revision of courses and programs.
Note: This is a 12 month contract position.
Responsibilities
• Works with Chairs and faculty members on the design and development of new programs and ensures Seneca quality standards are met and processes are followed.
• Works with Chairs and faculty members to review existing programs to ensure courses and course materials maintain constructive alignment and adhere to academic standards and guidelines.
• Tracks and reports progress of development for new and current programs under review, to the Director, Program Quality.
• Develops and delivers training on writing strong program learning outcomes.
• Assists with program-level curriculum reviews for all levels of credentials.
• Collaborates with Academic Quality colleagues on the organization and delivery of School, Faculty and College-wide faculty development events.
• Maintains currency in the field of curriculum development and conducts custom and ongoing research and analysis to support Seneca’s positioning as an education leader.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director, Program Quality.
Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Education, or a related field, with relevant experience in curriculum design and faculty development in a post-secondary education context. (Preference will be given to an earned PhD in a related discipline.)
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in competency-based education and design of learning outcomes, and with the requirements associated with program development and modification, including the Credential Validation Service and Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board.
• Experience with outcomes-based education.
• Experience with constructive alignment and curriculum development.
• Experience in development and delivery of face-to-face and hybrid workshop materials.
• Superior interpersonal skills including strong consultative skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team with students, faculty and staff from a variety of backgrounds in a professional and collaborative manner.
• Extensive knowledge of pedagogy, and teaching and learning strategies including familiarity with teaching and learning literature, and research and scholarship methodologies in teaching and learning.
• Ability to work independently to solve problems creatively and effectively.
• Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills with demonstrated proficiency in project management.
• Knowledge of curriculum change or instructional design project management.
• Excellent organizational skills, including managing multiple deadlines and tasks with competing priorities.
• Familiarity with the academic mission of Seneca College and the Ontario post-secondary education context.

Position Overview The Director of Teaching and Learning provides leadership and strategic direction for innovative and scholarly teaching and learning practices to support student learning. The incumbent works directly with faculty, as well as acts as an expert consultant to Deans and Chairs to offer expertise in exemplary teaching practices, active learning strategies, outcomes-based course design, and innovative assessment approaches to enrich student learning and faculty teaching experiences at Seneca. The Director will oversee Seneca’s Centre of Teaching and Learning, providing college-wide leadership of academic professional development activities for faculty, and supporting the development of academic leaders. The incumbent will also work with provincial and national colleagues to share best practices and resources.

The successful candidate will lead the Teaching and Learning team to design projects to support the goals and objectives of the Academic Plan, and work collaboratively with academic programs on curriculum design and revisions, as well as projects to meet the goals and objectives of the Academic Plan. The Director promotes and facilitates ongoing campus-wide conversations about relevant, quality and innovative curriculum design and assessments, and inspires staff to explore innovative teaching methods, including championing the experimentation and integration of new learning technologies. The incumbent will lead Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research, working with academic staff to support innovative SoTL research projects, as well as create and find opportunities for SoTL researchers at Seneca to spotlight their work locally and nationally. The incumbent will model Seneca’s commitment to SoTL through his/her contribution to SoTL higher education networks. This position reports to the Dean, Academic Quality.
Responsibilities
• Provides leadership and strategic direction for scholarly teaching and learning practices.
• Provides strategic direction on Seneca’s faculty development programs, and academic professional development workshops.
• Provides vision and leadership for frameworks that guide all curriculum development and renewal.
• Provides vision and leadership in the development of innovative assessment methods.
• Develops and leads a framework for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research, inspires academic staff to engage in SoTL, and creates opportunities for SoTL researchers at Seneca.
• Oversees the development and implementation of teaching and learning initiatives.
• Provides strategic academic leadership for the use of learning technology tools, including the college-wide use of the learning management system.
• Supports the development of academic leadership at Seneca.
• Collaborates with academic programs on projects to meet the goals and objectives of the Academic Plan.
Qualifications
• A completed Master Degree in a related field is required. A Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
• Nine years of progressive leadership experience in an academic environment.
• Expertise in higher education, and sound understanding of all facets of postsecondary education.
• Teaching experience in a college and/or university setting.
• Evidence of advanced qualitative and/or qualitative research methodologies in multi-disciplinary fields, and an established scholarly publication record
• Knowledge of current scholarly teaching and learning theories and practices.
• Evidence of knowledge and application of Universal Design of Learning Principles.
• Experience developing and implementing academic professional development activities in a postsecondary environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Qualifications Framework and the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board requirements.

Position Overview Reporting to the Manager, Leadership and Employee Development (LED), the Professional Development Specialist will be responsible for the design, delivery, and logistics of employee professional development initiatives that meet the needs of departments and faculties within the college. The Specialist will respond to professional development inquiries and training requests, assess the requirements and work with the Manager, LED to develop appropriate learning interventions. This can include the design and/or delivery of workshops, coordinating the development of eLearning, managing or assisting with the development of other types of learning events, and sourcing external facilitators to deliver content. All professional development delivery is based on adult learning principles.

The Specialist will be the main point of contact for the Learning Management System (LMS) with ITS and the LMS vendor. This individual will also produce LMS activity reports and ensure the system is working optimally. This individual will work with developers and providers to ensure learning content meets department, stake-holder and college standards, and any technical issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Responsibilities • Responds to the needs of employees or departments in regards to gaps in skills; designs, delivers, and/or sources, then evaluates professional development solutions to address those gaps.
• Conducts needs analysis to determine training objectives, instructional strategies, project scope, time frames, resources, requirements and potential constraints.
• Coordinates the development and deployment of college-wide learning solutions that integrate with our Learning management system, Talent Management software and HRIS.
• Creates and maintains learning paths within the LMS that may contain workshops, eLearning, external and internal content.
• Collaborates with other eLearning advisors, Blackboard / My.Seneca specialists, internal contractors, external vendors, and/or suppliers in the creation of e-Learning deliverables.
• Ensures the LMS is running optimally and coordinates issue resolution in a timely manner.
• Designs course materials and other documents such as job aids, manuals and exercises.
• Facilitates some workshops.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of the training and learning objectives.
• Keeps up to date with relevant training methodologies, systems, software and other technology.
• Works with PD Coordinator to develop marketing strategies for training projects and events.
• Works with the Manager, LED in the creation and management of budgets for projects and events.
• Liaises with facilitators when needed for events; completes the facilitator’s agreements.
• Responsible for completing the “loop” on planning: collecting evaluations from participants, materials from facilitators when required, and evaluation/comments from facilitators.
• Supports the Manager, LED in coordinating internal events, staff meetings, ad hoc reporting and communications.
Qualifications • Minimum of a completed three (3) year diploma is required; educational background in Adult Learning, Education or Human Resources Management/Development is preferred. If in another field of study, state how the education is related.
• Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in adult learning, including experience in learning needs analysis, software training, developing training materials and conducting / facilitating PD sessions / workshops is required.
• A CTDP (Certified Training and Development Professional) designation in good standing is considered an asset.
• Well-developed interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills (verbal and written) to interact effectively with multi-cultural/racial/able staff, employers, and the public are required.
• A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required for travel between campuses.
Hourly Wage Rate Payband I: Start rate $33.00, Maximum rate $38.25
Weekly Hours of Work 35 hours per week (averaging of hours; overtime as required)
Monday to Friday; 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Schedule will vary weekly
